Pleasantly surprised

I've been at my final destination for just over 24 hours now. Spent the day drinking from a water hose. That's pretty much what the process has felt like. OPSEC is obviously a huge concern so what you'll probably see is blogging on past events rather than current or future events. This is to protect my unit and this area.

The facilities we have here are quite nice. I'm not sleeping in a tent, we have showers and running water, hot food, phone and internet and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. This country is very very pretty.

I can't say what my mission is or what I'll be doing but I look forward to the whole experience.

Thanks to everyone for supporting me back home. Experiencing a little separation anxiety but I hear that's normal.

It sounds like things are going well so far. Sometimes you can be in a crowd under the best conditions and still feel lonely. Communicating with loved ones is the best medicine.

Stumbled upon your blog because my son-in-law just deployed to Afghanistan recently and I'm trying to learn all I can about what his life may be like. Hope you don't mind if we follow you now and then and read your blog. We will add you to our prayers for safety and sanity!
